VEHICLE USE POLICY
- Only approved drivers may drive church vehicles. It is preferred that long trips have two or more approved drivers.
- Use of church vehicles for personal use is prohibited.
- Reservation requests must be made through the church office and approved by admin at least one week prior to use.
- Request must include destination(s) and approximate route.
- Van use calendar will guide admin in approval.
- Keys (kept in locked area) will need to be picked up and dropped off during office hours unless otherwise approved.
- Requests are only to be made for 5 or more passengers, with a maximum of 12 persons including driver.
- Pre-check, trip log and post-check logs are required for all trips.
- Pre-trip includes checking the vehicle for fuel and safety concerns. Also includes a talk with passengers about passenger expectations.
- Trip log details mileage, route and any incidents or concerns.
- Post-check includes checking the vehicle for fuel, safety concerns, car wash when needed (to be outlined better later) and cleaning out all trash and belongings. Vacuum if excessive dirt or small debris.
- Emergency kit to include:
- First Aid
- Flashlight
- Tire Repair Kit
- Reflective Triangles
- Jumper Cables
- Small Tire Compressor
- Fire Extinguisher
- Cleaning supplies
- Garbage bags
- Washer fluid
- Driver will not use handheld devices while driving (unless mounted to the dashboard). Hands free devices are permitted.
- Drivers must keep fuel above 1/4th tank at all times.
- Van must be returned with at least 3/4th tank. Refueling is to be covered by the ministry that is using the van.
- Passengers must wear safety belts at all times. Young children must ride in child safety seats as required by state regulations.
- When driving anyone under 18, PEC program policy must be followed.
- No smoking. Food and drink are discouraged. Van must be completely clean of any crumbs or spills. Drinks must have a lid.
DRIVER ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Driver must be a minimum of 21 years old.
- Driver must have a valid driver’s license and at least 2 years of driving experience.
- Driver must be a Member of Trinity Baptist Church in good standing.
- Trinity Baptist Church will obtain driver MVR (Motor Vehicle Report). No DUI’s or pattern of speeding, accidents and/or recklessness.
- Background check will be obtained via Verified First on driver.
- Must complete Driver Health Questionnaire.
- Training will be required before driving van (extra training required for transporting children, youth and/or pulling a trailer).
