Thailand - April, 2005

In April of 2005, Trinity Baptist Church and representatives from other churches from Illinois, Wisconsin, and Nebraska, traveled to Thailand.  In response to the December 26, 2004 Tsunami, we worked to rebuild the lives of those who were affected by the natural disaster.  The love of God was manifested in word and deed and people were beginning to believe that there is a God who loves them and that Jesus is someone they need to learn more about.

Children

Team 2 worked in the Bang Sak village camp with children. It was hot but fun.

Children's Clubs

Andrea Jacobson teaches children from the Bang Sak village camp where they live until their houses are built.

Worship and teaching

Each Sunday, believers from around the world who are in Bang Sak working gather for worship. Here, Pastor Mike Lopp teaches through an interpreter about God's desire to love the people of this area who have lost so much.

Bang Sak Village

Pictured here are the gov't provided temporary shelters where the Bang Sak residents lived until their homes were rebuilt.

Eye glasses from America

Our team brought reading glasses for the older residents to try out. It was fun to see how interested they were and grateful for this act of kindness.

Construction

Jeff Fray is seen laying block in one of the future homes.

Construction

Troy Rose is preparing the steel structure to be roofed. Welded joints have to be painted before the roof goes on.

Homes

The outer structure of the homes is entirely cement and steel. It will have a much better chance to survive a future tsunami and gives comfort and security to residents who want to go back to their land.

Construction

Volunteers mix cement and do various other general labor jobs.

Construction

Troy Rose worked hard most on roof prep. Here he is doing facia work which must be done before the roof tiles go on.

Clean Up

Our first crew of ladies returned from working with children to spend the remainder of each day doing general clean up of the property.

Meg Perron and a local Thai lady named Laun are working together laying block. Laun began attending the worship services before our 1st team left. We are praying for her salvation.

Working Together

Here believers from America, Thailand and Laus pose for a picture to demonstrate the beauty of God's kingdom, moving forward as people across racial and ethnic lines to serve Christ together.

Coming Together

Before the second team left, the second house was done and others were quickly taking shape.

Children

Here a group of Thai children from a different village have been brought to a children's club. They made crafts, learned to sing to Jesus and heard stories from the Bible. They also had some English reinforcement.

General Labor

Raina Roloff mixes morter by hand. There aren't enough electric mixers to go around.
